| Product codes are company
complex coding schemes intended to uniquely identify products. In
most cases however, these “intelligent” identifiers
are a compilation of smaller codes, each with their own meaning.
Over time, end users typically bend the rules
of product coding, and create redundant and otherwise invalid product
identifiers and before long, a search of the product database can
be an intimidating task.
Through our analysis, we will document the
various segments of the product coding definitions used throughout
the history of your company, and will then map the product codes
to these individual segments.
The result of this analysis creates a map
of related products, which in some cases are redundant. Eliminating
this kind of redundancy has a direct impact on the bottom line,
because the inventories will be consolidated and the invalid product
references are eliminated, so they do not cause further corruption.
